Straight & Narrow recognizes the immense need for low-income housing for persons living with HIV/AIDS.
In February 2000, Straight & Narrow opened a 23-unit independent living apartment facility for
low-income individuals who have AIDS. In May of 2003, Straight & Narrow celebrated the opening of a
second facility, a new, 50-unit apartment complex for homeless men and women who have HIV/AIDS.
The apartments
include one-room efficiencies and two-room units designed to accommodate individuals with
disabilities. Each apartment offers a private bathroom, two-burner stove, refrigerator and sink.
Live-in staff and security are present 24 hours a day. The Straight & Narrow Apartments offer
residents access to on-site counseling and support groups, financial counseling, medical support,
recreational activities and linkages to other AIDS services and support systems. Group social and
recreational activities are held in the multi-purpose room of each apartment complex. Residents of
the Straight & Narrow apartments may also choose to participate in Straight & Narrow’s Medical Day
Care program.
